Raiding the Station Armory had yielded a new item to help add some challenges to Morag and Trunks' sparring. Which wasn't usually a 'fun' activity but was for them. Namely, he'd found bracelets that dampened his ki. Or similar energy, as George had tried them too and found himself unable to work any kind of spell even with a wand.
Useful and interesting; the couple certainly enjoyed the challenge and testing each other. When they managed to stay focused on actually sparring. It also had provided a good form of 'neutral' ground to allow the pair to become more comfortable. Flirting with each other, and with little touches and kisses. Little pushes, but both aware that this was not something either was used to.
Both were game however for learning.
2 weeks went by fast, and they were introduced to new members of their crew. 4 humanoid-ducks--all children; which wasn't exactly reassuring. An acquaintance of George from the wizarding world, who seemed a bit out there but also very intelligent. A teenage cyborg who was part of a superhero-team back in his own world, and was clearly ready to just roll with whatever was thrown at him.
It would take some adjusting, but that was part of why new crew-mates were being integrated with 2 weeks left on the Station before they all had missions again. Chances for them to have their own space, but also to get to know each other and learn a bit about how they'd all work together.
That 'space' part was important though, so that they could all adjust BEFORE having to depend on each other in a life-or-death situation. Some of them already taking advantage of it already, as Luna and George were comparing notes with Webby and Dewey and Huey, while Louie and Cyborg were comparing notes on disguises and 'cons' of all things. Tylor and Nurse Joy were also seen enjoying some of the comforts of the station. Purely platonically, despite Tylor's flirting.
Morag and Trunks didn't feel guilty then, when 'ordered' to take a proper vacation-date. With a suggestion and arrangements made. Teleporting to a nearby planet that was known for it's resorts and climate similar to Earth Tropics. Yes, 'ordered'--as Tylor had learned by now to phrase it as such for Morag. Bathing suits, proper dinner with each other, spend time playing in the sand and not sparring--try 'normal' stuff. He might've been teasing too, a bit--but he knew Trunks at least had a background reference culturally for this stuff, if not actual experience. The commander wasn't so sure about his 2nd-in-command having the same references.
Compact and sleek suitcases, and things had been set-up to correspond with their 'omnibands' as their ticket and means of entry. The planet itself was Thein, and they were booked 2 rooms for 1 overnight at the Daoung resort. The teleportation had been slightly unnerving, but smooth for all of that--and it was clear that the resort-hotel was used to this type of thing.
Pale yellow-green sky, with an orange-red-brick facade leading into the lobby, there were fountains everywhere, against sandy-colored low furniture and cushions and brick-work. Marble (or something close to it) as well, and many different beings. All corporeal thankfully, and quite a few humanoids.
Soon enough the pair were settled, and it was time to go have 'fun' and proper 'leisure' time.
Mòrag spent the time getting prepared wondering privately if the Captain was very deliberately assigning them to date, or if he was simply assigning them to do something that they all knew very well the two of them would make into a date. She ultimately decided she would think of it as the latter, because she was inclined to rebel against the former.
They hadn't kept their liaison as secret as they might desire. Little surprise considering George was involved, but it was a little embarrassing all told. Things like this should be kept quiet, she felt, and not made public knowledge. Still... they didn't have much in the way of secrecy anyway...
With her suitcases settled but no certain itinerary decided on, Mòrag stepped over to peer in the open door to Trunks' identical suite. "You're the one more familiar with this sort of thing. What shall we do here?"
They also hadn't exactly flaunted their liason in front of the rest of the crew either. Honestly the two were fairly discreet, given how new this was for both of them. Even if Trunks didn't necessarily agree that something like this needed to be kept quiet, he didn't feel it was right to flaunt it either.
Their suites were next to each other, but not connected. Fairly nice too, with a small sitting area in addition to the bed, with a walk-in-closet and small vanity area. Each held a spacious shower/bath combination too, with vanity and regular lighting. Trunks was in the process of unpacking, when Morag peered over. "Well, familiar in idea and knowledge, not in experience."
Waving her on in, he worked as he spoke. "It's a resort, so there's likely a pool on site, if we don't want to brave the beach and ocean. I definitely can smell food, and there's probably at least one restaurant on site if not more than one, and a few nearby given this location." Pausing, and taking a break, Trunks turned and offered her a slightly shy grin. "It depends on what you want to do. What do you think you'd like to try?"
"When you put it like that, I feel I must insist on the ocean. I'd like to become more familiar with one." She'd be doing more of that back home right now, since for the first time in eons Alrest had a true ocean of water. "And I believe they have an exhibit of aquatic animals here as well?"
'Aquarium' wasn't a familiar term for her, either.
"Not many oceans back home?" Trunks questioned, gentle warmth in his tone and zero judgement. "I can check." Pulling his omni-band off his wrist, it wasn't hard for Trunks to manipulate the device to expand, press a small button, and ask his request.
"Resort attractions and activities please?" A small circle formed in the center of the band, then projected further to become a hologram. Pressing that small button again, "Ocean, Beach, and related information please." The hologram switched from a 3-D representation of the front of the resort, to an overview of the beach, with various lists and information for further links.
"If we're hitting the beach though, we should probably do so in more casual clothes than our uniforms." A few steps over to Morag, and Trunks passed her the Omni-band with one hand, while the other reached for hers to squeeze softly. "Shorts or loose pants that aren't designed for combat, comfy shirts, maybe a hat, and sandals. Also either packing or wearing a swimsuit underneath. I can take care of a bag for both of us, if you want?"
"Alrest had the Cloud Sea, by the Architect's will," she said, even as she smiled back at him when he took her hand. "It was only recently, with all the changes that came, that he pulled it back and true water, along with true land, because our world. And yes, we require swimsuits. Wearing one under casual clothing will actually feel more comfortable, I think."
She had, on occasion, donned one in the past. He might be surprised to know that.
"Well, while you're changing, take a look at what's available while on the beach. Looks like they have an aquarium, if I'm reading it right. That's where they have the aquatic animals." Another squeeze, then a step back while leaving her with his omniband.
"I can pack a bag for us, including towels, if it'd make it easier." Heading back to his suitcase, and searching through it for his swim-trunks and other 'casual' stuff. It wasn't hard to find what he wanted. A side glance her way, then a hint of smile (and blush). Mostly because he was reaching to pull off his uniform jacket and the tee shirt underneath. Up to her if she wanted to watch.
She wanted to watch and she owned it, pausing in her step back to her room to turn, place one hand against the wall, and make it clear she was not going anywhere. Go on, she said with a little nod.
Well, calling his bluff? Head down, Trunks definitely felt the blush come over his face. It wasn't like she wouldn't see him shirtless while they were at the beach.
Jacket tossed on to the bed easily, fingers moved to pull his shift out from where it was tucked in. At the hem, and up and over his head, tee-shirt folded lightly before it was placed on the bed too.
Not that she didn't know he was a warrior, and solidly built. But it was the first time they weren't in the middle of a sparring match, or something else. His scars were faint, but he did have them.
She'd have been surprised if he didn't. As for admiring him, she wasn't used to doing so with more... primal instincts in mind. But she certainly granted that he was well-formed, with a sort of grace about him that appealed. Certainly not unattractive. Far from it, in fact.
Once his head was out of the shirt, she nodded her approval.
Trunks could feel the heat from his blush, but also a rush of pride and pleasure. His attempt at flirting somewhat had gone well, and it made him smirk slightly. Perhaps it was also the positive reaction, perhaps it was the hint of challenge that she always provoked. Who could say...
As it was that hint of smirk stayed even while he was still blushing. Bringing his arms up, Trunks indulged in a stretch, arms over his head. Taking his time with it too, both because it was good to stretch, but also for her. Showing off somewhat, and letting her see just how defined he was.
She let her shoulder touch the wall so she could fold her arms, determined not to blush herself or lose control of this game. "Don't mind me. I won't get in your way while you're doing whatever it is to need to do. Don't hesitate to turn your back on me either."
That did bring some laughter, shy as well as amused. "I mean...it's not like you won't see it when we're on the beach too." But Trunks was more willing to yield than she was, at least in this game.
Stretch completed, still bright red, Trunks turned fully though. But to face her, head tilted slightly. "Were you planning to stay while I got changed?"
"I wasn't, no," she said, perfectly calmly despite the wicked glint in her eye. "But I've always felt that being bound to a plan no matter what is poor strategic thinking. One must adapt to a changing environment."
In a world where she had any ability with jokes whatsoever, that would be intentional.
It was a joke, even if she hadn't meant it intentionally. Another nervous laugh, with genuine amusement underneath it. "True enough. I'll admit though, I'm not sure I'd be as calm as you seem, were our positions reversed."
To that she actually laughed as well, though one hand came up quickly to cover her mouth. "If you were any more calm and confident, I wouldn't be. But this is... comfortable. Much more so than I would have expected."
More laughter and some quick steps over to her. Reaching up to take her hand, bringing it to his mouth for a quick kiss. "Give me time, and I might be." A hint of taunt, but mostly just appreciation. This was comfortable, which was giving him confidence and courage.
"It is comfortable though, and I'm glad." Still holding her hand, but now Trunks leaned in to kiss her softly. Just soft, no pressure for more, but enjoying.
She responded willingly enough, leaning in to meet him. This really was comfortable, though she certainly didn't understand why. But somehow, she still felt entirely in control.
"You do look good," she murmured once their lips parted.
One last nervous chuckle and he leaned his forehead against her own. "...Thank you." Definitely shy as he leaned in again to kiss her softly in thanks. Holding it for a moment and squeezing her hand one last time before pulling back.
"And now, I really should change. So should you." Although he wouldn't kick her out...he knew he'd definitely be bright red if she did stay.
"Of course." She nodded, giving his hand a squeeze in turn before releasing it and turning. Back to her own room, to change responsibly... but not without an appreciative backwards glance.
Leaning against the wall, much as she had and still red. But holding her gaze, and with the glance his head ducked slightly. Even if he offered a quiet little smirk while watching her go.
Once she was in her room, he shook his head at himself to try and get the last of his nerves out. Then went to change and pack properly. It wasn't too long before he knocked on her door, waiting outside with a bag over his shoulder with towels and a water-bottle or two. Dressed 'casually' in a white tank-top under a pale orange button up shirt. Lightweight, sleeves rolled up, with brown slip on shoes. Her suggestion had been a good one though, although the dark blue swim-trunks weren't entirely obvious as a swimsuit.
On her side, she paused to catch her breath -- which she was quite surprised to be short of, once she realized it -- then turned to dressing herself. With two layers to wrangle, she took a little longer than he did; when next she reappeared, it was in an outfit that looked a little more like early fall than mid-summer, with its modest blouse and pants. She'd conceded on two points, though; she wore sandals, and no hat. In fact, she'd gotten so bold as to let her hair down entirely.
Trunks had been prepared to wait, although he expected she wouldn't take that much longer than him. For all her nerves and inexperience, she still was too much 'special inquisitor'--too military, to take too long.
Her hair being down however, struck him first. Before her more casual attire. His mouth opened slightly, eyes widening just a bit too as he noticed just how long it was. Trying to be discreet, as he took a breath in and out, before smiling. "Decide if we're doing the beach or the aquarium first?"
"The aquarium, I think. We'll be quite wet after the beach." Putting on clothing over a soaking swimsuit? No thanks. She would put up with such things without complaint ordinarily, but not on vacation, not when she didn't have to.
"A good plan. We can see what kind of wild-life they have here, before we encounter it in the wild. All set?" Making sure she had anything she needed, although he'd packed towels. They would both need their omni-bands since that contained currency and any access codes needed but the tech had certainly been through worse than just a wetting.
Once they were ready though, it wasn't far from the resort-hotel. Outside under the pale yellow-green sky, 2 suns and 1 moon seen low in the sky as they moved away from the hotel. The Daoung Resort had clearly marked paths, sandy-colored brick work interspersed with fountains. Flora was in bright red and orange colors, with hints of green, against darker red-purple ground.
Following the path towards the aquarium, the glass building bordered the beach--striking against dark blue-green water and a mix of tan and purple sandy-beach. Clearly marked off though, and designed with two above ground levels--the entrance containing information and skeletons, along with smaller exhibits for touch and tiny animals that were more friendly. The second floor held more flora and some fauna, not unlike various rain forests. A riot of bright colors and light and shadows, and humid.
Below the surface levels, the aquarium merged in part with some of the beach to provide sanctuary for native species to the planet. Also exhibits for conservation, and basic education!
Proper "leisure" Time
