Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-05-04 03:06 am (UTC)Trying to make sure he understood her correctly. Moving over to their packs as he dug the sleeping gear out of his. Then pulling out collapsible plastic 5 gallon bucket-canteens. They'd been folded small and tightly, for when they did make camp. Yuna had one in her pack too.
Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-05-04 12:03 pm (UTC)Yuna didn't move for her pack assuming that Alex would grab her canteen for them to take. She stayed in her thief garb placing her palms together and kneeling on the dirt floor. Feathers began to fall around her, white and pure dropping from thin air as Yuna gathered her magic around her.
White magic was always second nature to Yuna, hence she didn't have to change but she wanted this to be stronger and so she took the time to focus. Her eyes closed for a moment and the air around Yuna hummed softly as shimmering blocks began to build around the building that would be their home for a few days. Once the deed was done Yuna opened her eyes glancing over at Alex with a smile.
"Done. We should be good."
Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-05-05 01:41 am (UTC)He wasn't even blinking, not until it all was over.
Several thoughts ran through his brain. Where had the feather's come from? Where had they gone? Why take 'that' form, when they'd just vanished into light?
The shimmering blocks made structural sense, and he could reasonably posit that they were 'solid' even if he wasn't sure how they were made. Were they air-proof? Permeable against some objects but not others? His brain was still trying to wrap around magical concepts.
Other thoughts ran through his mind too, that he couldn't form as easily or make sense of. Couldn't clarify to himself, so he stored them for analysis for later. Chiefly, that even with how capable he 'knew' Yuna was, it was still new to see some of her other skills. He'd seen her do magic before, but not like this. She'd looked otherworldly, beautiful, as if it was what she was meant to do...
"I thought you had to change spheres, to use magic?" Maybe all her spheres had magic? He still wasn't entirely clear on how they worked, even though she'd tried to explain it to him.
Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-05-05 01:55 am (UTC)She stepped up next to Alex looking up at him as she tried to explain. "I don't need the spheres to do a lot of my magic. They help and make it easier without tiring me out as much but I don't need them. Magic is a part of me, like I'm made up of it." Her head tilted to the side and she took a step forward thinking that water was somewhere in that direction.
"My spheres are very special. There are only three of us who use them in my world and in some cases they can be dangerous as well. I'm more in tune with them because I was a summoner first."
Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-05-05 02:04 am (UTC)"You said before, magic comes from living things right?" That, he supposed, he could rationalize as making sense if you viewed magic as energy. Living things did generate energy.
Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-05-05 02:19 am (UTC)Yuna wondered what he would think knowing that she played and used the souls of the dead. It was so common on her world killing, using and guiding the dead.
"Sometimes they aren't but I'm used to feeling them when I'm connected to there spheres. That's also why my clothing changes. The souls create that physical show that they are connected to me while stirring within my conciseness." It sounded dangerous when she said it like that.
Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-05-05 02:38 am (UTC)A long time he was quiet, before he spoke again. "It would explain the nightmares, and why you felt like they belonged to someone else. Because they did actually belong to someone else." His tone was hesitant, but Alex wouldn't have voiced it, if he wasn't fairly sure he was right.
"I...know how that feels. You felt...all of them. In me." And then he was quieter, not really interested in expanding unless she pried.
Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-05-05 05:02 pm (UTC)“Yeah. I think, I always sort of knew that.” Not that she had wanted to admit to hearing ghosts. In a way she was thankful that she told Alex and that Alex told her. It was a small comfort but she wasn’t alone. Someone else understood what it meant to hear the voices of the dead, those pained and scared cries.
Yuna understood what he meant. They were both connected to the dead, in Alex’s case it was his victims and in Yuna’s it was her world. They couldn’t be separated from it. “I guess the noise never quiets.”
Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-05-07 02:09 am (UTC)He was used to it, brooding, being alone with his thoughts. It didn't really bother him. But he found himself noting that it seemed unusual. For Yuna.
He had yet to see her actually let herself brood, or be lost in the sadness he know she had been through. Even when he'd comforted her from her nightmare, she hadn't been like this. It bothered him.
Moving slightly closer, shifting the collapsed buckets into one hand so he could reach out with his other. Touching her shoulder gently, carefully to not startle her either. "I've learned to tune it out, most of the time. It's a form of quiet, anyways. But I still hear them when I close my eyes."
I understand. I won't judge. You can lean on me, for that. All of which he was trying to communicate silently with eyes and the touch of his hand on her shoulder.
Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-05-07 04:13 pm (UTC)"You know, I should be able to sooth them. So if you ever want quiet, I can help." Yuna knew he didn't need to sleep but if she could let him have his thoughts and feelings without those souls pushing at his senses, well she can at least help. "I used to do that. Whenever I performed the sending. Not everyone does but I thought it was something nice to do." It was something she felt like she had to do.
Even with these sad topics Yuna kept her smile, her demeanor confident and strong as they made their way towards the water. She wasn't the type to let anything keep her down.
Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-05-26 05:35 pm (UTC)Including trusting her enough to bare a few of his secrets. He kept the hand on her shoulder, staring at her with eyes that demanded she answer. Even as he kept his other senses alert in case they were in danger.
Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-05-26 06:18 pm (UTC)"Though I if I helped you. Well... it'd help me too."
She felt as if his hand kept her grounded. She wasn't sure if he really wanted her answer but she gave it to him anyway. After a few more steps she paused looking back up at Alex. "I hear water."
Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-17 04:12 am (UTC)He hadn't moved his hand as they walked, collapsed buckets still in one held carefully. Looking around, Alex noticed far more 'light' showing up, especially as they got closer to what was clearly some kind of underground lake or lagoon. The hard shale-type surface they'd been walking on gave way to sand. Alex was amused to look down, and find the sand a bright purple-maroon color. Easily large enough, and the roof of the cave over the lake revealed more of that glowing fungi or moss.
Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-17 12:33 pm (UTC)Yuna looked down at the sand as well feeling a smile pull at her lips. It was beautiful. She slowly reached down letting her fingers run through the fine mineral. “What do you think is in this?” She assumed that Alex might know or be able to tell. She looked up at him before standing again. She held a small pool of purple sand in her hands. It was dark in a way, the colors mixing together like the night sky melding with dried blood.
“It’s beautiful.”
Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-17 07:22 pm (UTC)A minute or two for analysis, before he stood up and brushed his uniform off from where he'd crouched. "I'd have to check, but if it's anything like Earth, then something in the chemicals. Most likely the ph-balance between organisms in the sand, causing the color. Probably something acidic." Murmuring in response to her question, as he pulled the buckets out and assembled them. Dipping and filling them up before placing them back on the shore, where they sank into the sand.
Coming over to where Yuna was, he looked at the pool of sand she held. "It's definitely unique." And pretty--it was a good color for Yuna, from the contrast of her skin and the sand. Crouching once more, he poked and dug a smaller hole, and smiled when he noticed the sand was darker purple, the deeper in the whole. It was lighter, the closer to the air. "Interesting." He'd have to muse on that.
First though, a thought had occurred to him. He looked up at Yuna, and smirked.
Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-18 04:25 pm (UTC)She wasn’t too concerned with the water. She knew that if monsters lived here then they would need water and while some could survive off different things they could always purify it somehow.
Yuna was more concerned about Alex. “What is it?” That smirk… she didn’t know what it meant but for some reason she thought it spelled trouble for them.
Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-23 05:09 am (UTC)None that he could detect, so his attention shifted to Yuna once more. Still smirking, before moving quickly. Shifting his weight, pulling her up into his arms and heading for the edge of the water. Getting in up to his ankles, before tossing her gently further out.
His smirk had heralded mischief, more than anything. She'd been mopey. He didn't like her mopey, Alex had decided.
Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-23 02:57 pm (UTC)“Alex!” All she had time to do was shout his name in surprise as he tossed her into the water. She didn’t mind water but it was cold. She yelped as she lifted herself from the lake. Beads of liquid rolled down her skin and her hair matted to her cheeks. She flicked her wrist splashing him with a wave of water in retaliation. “You’re going to have to help me dry my hair now.”
Yuna was smiling even though she was trying so hard to pout. She slowly made her way back towards the shore until the water brushed against her ankles. Her outfit wasn’t meant to go swimming in and a few parts of it were becoming see-through. She wrapped her arms around her chest and shivered.
“That wasn’t very nice.” She was smiling; she couldn’t stop smiling though she wasn’t sure why being tossed into water made her smile.
Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-24 09:45 pm (UTC)Really, he...tried to ignore that she was smiling. That her outfit had gone almost sheer; no wonder she was cold. He couldn't actually carry her, and the buckets, back to camp so his jacket it was for now. "How involved will drying your hair be?" His head tilted as he moved to make his way to the shore, picking up the buckets and ready to head back to their safe-house.
Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-25 01:04 am (UTC)Yuna stopped when she reached the sandy shore line looking down at the funny colored sand before looking over at Alex with a smirk that matched his own. "My hair takes a lot of work." Which was why she tied it up when she showered. She usually had to wash her hair separately.
"Can we take some of the sand back with us too?"
Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-25 01:18 am (UTC)How did she HAVE that much hair not get in the way?
Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-25 01:37 am (UTC)"You coming?" She had payback in mind but for now she would wait until they were back behind the shield she had created.
She slowly walked away letting her hair trail behind her as she moved. She assumed he'd catch up but she wanted to get her hair undone before it dried and then stayed all curled up.
Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-25 01:47 am (UTC)He was glad Yuna wasn't really mad with him. Nor was he buying that she might not still try retaliation. Just because she hadn't pushed him in the water there... Not that Alex had ideas on what she might do, but he was going to be watchful all the same.
Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-25 05:43 pm (UTC)As she worked she looked over towards Alex feeling her cheeks flush red. She wasn’t used to having others see her hair unbound but she supposed if it was Alex it wouldn’t be so uncomfortable.
Yuna worked her nibble fingers as they walked though she hadn’t gotten her hair completely unwrapped by the time they got back. It felt like a shorter walk back though she assumed that was her imagination.
Re: Dungeoneering mission!--Into the Ruins!
Date: 2015-06-25 08:43 pm (UTC)It definitely seemed a shorter walk back, and Alex stopped outside of where he'd seen her set her barrier up. "So...magic barrier. Anything I should know? Do you take it down? Cut a door?"
