Alex shook his head, as he'd help. He was kind of fascinated now to see the physics of it. Feeding some more scrap-wood he'd found in other parts of the run-down house to build up the fire. Then bringing her two towels; he didn't really need hers, and he noticed she was still kind of soaked even if her clothing was dry.

Crouching near, still fascinated by the compression she achieved with the braid.

She took the towels draping one around her shoulders and then wrapping the other around her hair. It's amazing how much water hair can hold. She looked over at Alex curiously as if judging the distance of the fire.

"Thank you..." She paused with a smile. "One more thing."

She held out a palm and then flicked her wrist. Water appeared from her finger tips and then up from the earth below Alex soaking him while leaving the fire untouched.

Yuna's smile widened. "Now we are even."

His eyes-widened, but not because she'd soaked him. He'd been expecting retaliation earlier to be fair. It's more...the magic he'd seen before kind of made sense to him. In the idea that she was manipulating energy.

Pulling water though, from nothing (like her finger) and the ground? That had him baffled. Even if he accepted 'magic' over all.

Swiping his hand against his face, he was bemused in a different way as he at least stopped his bangs from dripping. "I expected that sooner, I admit. How the hell did you create it out of nothing?"

Yuna laughed. She'd never really get him back. She noticed that nothing ever really bothered Alex. At least nothing she ever did. She began to slowly dry her braid as she scooped a little closer to the fire.

"It's not from nothing. I used my own energy to pull the water from the air and from the ground. Water is all around us." The same was with fire, ice and lighting. They were elements all present around them and even if they are in short supply her own energy would be enough to supplement it.

She started from the bottom of her long braid which already started to unravel and began loosening the tight wrap of hair. She kept a towel in her lap letting her hair drip on the fluffy material.

Alex just shook his head, standing from his crouch. "But...I...that..." A noise of frustrated amusement. "Ok, I get the idea of magic being manipulation of energy, but creating altered-states of matter and manipulating them? That just.." Throwing up his hands, as he had learned from her (and a few others on their crew) that it just wouldn't be solved easily.

Intellectually, he accepted magic had laws and rules. Could be viewed as a science in its own right as much as an art. But he did not understand it, and it kind of drove him a little crazy when he wasn't purposefully NOT letting it do so.

"I suppose one trick deserves another though." Hands out at his sides, as he let bios-mass flow over him. Slowing it slightly, as he shape-shifted; mostly into his usual clothing rather than uniform. But enough that Yuna could see how his very shape and make-up changed, composed ultimately of red-and-black viral-bio-mass.

Yuna watched curiously realizing then that she still had his jacket. She slipped it from her grip and tossed it over towards there stuff so it wouldn't get wet or get in the way of whatever Alex was doing. She could sense the flow and ebb of magic around him and it's change but she wasn't sure if she should comment on it.

Once he was finished her focus shifted to her hair which was slowly becoming undone, falling in long silky locks across her lap.

"I haven't seen you do that before. It's..." She paused thinking of the right word. "interesting."

Yuna smiled and then waved Alex closer. "You said you'd help or have you decided to back out?" She gestured to her hair. Now that half of it was out of the braid it was longer and harder to dry.

Alex shrugged, hands moving to his pockets as he headed over and then sat next to her. One leg stretched out, other curled in as he rested his arm on his upright knee. "How much hair do you have?" She'd only half-undone the braid and he was already amazed.

"I think it goes down past my ankles now." She didn't take it down often so she didn't really know for sure. She pulled at her hair with her teeth trying to release on part of it before continuing up. She was over 3/4's up her hair and she worried the lower section would get tangled if she wasn't careful.

Yuna tossed the extra towel from her shoulders to his lap with a smile. "Can you start drying the ends? I might pull them from you to finish unbraiding this but my hair will start dripping if I let it stay wet."

Alex blinked in surprise--how could anyone stand having THAT much hair? Tilting his head, he scooted closer to her. "Here...let...me..try." It should be like a knot right? Just had to be patient.

Yet he was nervous, as his fingers moved to carefully start pulling apart the braid.

"okay"

Yuna's hands brush against his as she slowly pulled away from her hair. She wasn't expecting him to want to unravel the mess of brown and feeling the slight tug on her hair makes her cheeks flush a light rosy hue.

She smiles. "I guess you aren't used to long hair?"

Fortunately it wasn't that difficult. Yet. Mostly it was a matter of going slowly and patience with the length. Some of his research and work in the past hadn't been so different really.

"Not with this kind of long hair, Yuna. Most people where I'm from don't have long hair to their ankles. The longest I've seen was just to the top of the hips." It was like something out of a fairy-tale.

Then again, Yuna was often like someone or something out of a fairy-tale, if Alex was being honest.

She still as his fingers gently loosened her braid. It was amazing how fierce and how gentle Alex could be. She smiled shyly feeling warmth flood through her limbs. She liked it when he was close and bit by bit she felt herself relax.

"I suppose I'm unusual then."

Yuna began to slowly dry the ends of her hair and after a little bit more effort it would be completely down and slowly falling in brown waves. The shades of brown differ but it's dark where its the wettest and that's where Yuna begins to dry first.

"Does it look okay?"

Alex didn't bother responding to her first question. She was unusual, but that wasn't a bad thing in his eyes. Most of the 'crew' of Explorers were unusual in one way or another. He figured it was a not-quite-requirement.

"You're worried about how it looks?" Alex asked with some incredulity. It was hair, it looked like hair. It wasn't a horribly tangled mess, and a lot of it was wet. "There are no major knots or tangles. I tried to be careful. You can stand-up and check yourself if you want."

"Okay." She didn't want to pull away from the comforting tug of his fingers through her hair but she didn't wear it down often and she was feeling a little odd having it down. She slowly stood running her hands through the brown locks and then tossing her hair over her shoulder.

It fell in long waves down her back a little crumbled from the dampness that was left behind from the water. The tips of her hair brushed the ground and curled inward slightly at her toes.

"I don't have a mirror." She paused turning slightly as if to show him. "What do you think?" It might but a little odd but Yuna needed him to be a mirror for a moment.

Alex's eyes were slightly wider under his hood, expression mostly closed. Except he looked...impressed? Slightly stunned? There was something there.

As far as he was concerned, she really was like something out of a fairy-tale, with her hair falling down around her and framing her the way it was. Made him feel slightly nervous, and he wasn't entirely sure why at first. Took him a few seconds where he was focused on trying to puzzle out that reaction and get his brain back to working properly.

Then he blinked so he wasn't staring anymore, and tilted his head. "It doesn't look tangled from here. I am still definitely impressed that you compress it into the tail you do." He meant that--because that was not an easy feat as far as he was concerned. "Were you worried about anything specifically with it?"

Yuna wasn't sure what to make of Alex's reaction. They were small changes but she had been around him enough to pick up on some of them.

"I suppose if it looks alright." Yuna ran her fingers through her hair letting the long brown strains fall back into place behind her. Then she smiled, her cheeks flushing a slight red. "Thank you for saying so. It takes a long time to braid. Once it's dry I'll have to put it back up. I can teach you."

She could sleep in it since she assumed that Alex would suggest they rest next but then it would get all tangled.

Her cheeks flushed red and she felt her fingers press against a few loose strains of hair. "Thanks."

Yuna slowly moved back next to the fire, happy for it's heat as she pushed her long hair over her shoulder and into her lap. It looks more than alright. She wanted to know how much more but she also didn't want to ask.

She looked over a him. "Do you think I should leave it down for a while? It takes time to braid."

"Would it be easier to braid dry or slightly damp?" Alex asked. Some people's hair responded better when slightly damp, others dry. He kept his fairly short, otherwise it was a curly mess. Never mind his being able to shape-shift, this was his 'appearance' and he was slightly attached to it.

Pulling a towel over, he was careful of not pulling hard as he moved to dry other parts of her hair. Developing a rhythm almost. Carefully rub or pat dry a section, then finger comb it gently and smooth it.

“I prefer it to be completely dry.” Otherwise it got really curly because it would take on the curls of the braid instead of the gentle waves it usually fell in. Though even with towels it will take some time for her hair to dry fully.

Yuna looked over at him watching his expression as he intently dries her hair. “You know, a lot of people don’t know this is my hair. I think that’s why I braid it so tight.” It was something that was hers and she wasn’t used to having things that belonged to her. It was a little odd maybe but it was special in a way.

She blushed realizing she had just admit that to Alex and then shook her head. “It’s silly.”

"Why do you think it's silly?" Alex responded, keeping his rhythm of dry, then finger-comb. It was hypnotic, and soft, and soothing. Ok, maybe it was a little silly that people thought it wasn't her hair. But that didn't bother him.

It was her hair after all, she could do what she wanted with it.

Besides, brushing his fingers through it--it felt like silk. Heightened senses included touch, and it was so damn soft. Soothing to him, peaceful, and he was hoping she'd let him do this again sometime.

"There's an old fairy tale, about a girl trapped in a tower. She was famous for her long hair. Long enough that when it was braided, it could be used as a rope for entrance to the tower."

"A fairy tale?" That grabbed Yuna's attention and she didn't have to explain her embarrassment. She didn't talk about her hair often.

Her head canted to the side curiously, her gaze on Alex as he intently brushed her hair. "Will you tell it to me?"

Alex smirked as he continued running his fingers through her hair. "Maaaybe." He murmured, fully amused and teasing.

"Why do you think it's silly, that you care about this being your hair?" Careful as he took up the towel once more and rubbed some of her hair between it to dry more.

"Mmm?" She looked at him feeling her cheeks flush once more. Why did he always did that? Yuna quickly banished the thoughts from her mind.

"I just don't talk about my hair often." She paused. "Or let people see it." Or touch it, she thought to herself as she watched Alex pamper the silky locks with his gentle touch. "So, will you tell me the story?"

The laugh was barely audible, a low rumble in his chest and throat. "Thank you for letting me see it then." Alex murmured, understanding what she meant even if he was having fun teasing her about it. "I think you're the only person who's seen me out of my hoodie, too." Meaning without his hood up--as even in his Explorer's uniform, he wore a hoodie.

Pat-dry with towel, then finger-comb. Sections at a time, as it was soothing. Occasionally he'd catch a whiff of something too, as he moved his fingers through the strands. Light, faintly shimmery, but barely there and gone too fast to make sense of for him.

"Say please." Teasing her, smirking. He'd tell her the story, he was just having fun in the mean time.
