It was a lonely life, but Loki could do lonely. In some ways he had always been lonely--why should now be any different. But it was his chance to change what happened. To avoid... To stop Thanos--that was what was most important in the long run.

Truthfully, he still didn't quite trust his 'benefactors'--and would take his time so that he worded his 'wish' very carefully indeed. Maybe it was best Loki was a solitary Explorer then. Less people to potentially involve and make things complicated.

He had earned his break however, at the waystation. A rare chance to resupply, to get off of the ship. No matter how nice a ship it was, or he made it, it was still not home. But then, home didn't exist anymore either. Checking his omniband, Loki found the inventory and map of the waystation, and his eyebrows shot up. A library! Truly?

Well, now he knew exactly where he was going first.

The stations were the only time he bothered wearing the actual 'uniform', and he found it so dull to be doing so. But it had been a polite request, and he'd seen the value in it if only for the brief times he did make other Explorer's acquaintances. It was an annoyance, but tolerable. Unlike other's however, his at least was black. Nor did he bear a normal 'role'--only a patch saying "Agent". Loki had taken off the patch bearing 'Odinson'--as he wished to be known on his own terms.

Quite a sight though, tall form striding down the hall in all black with only "Agent" on his jacket, blue-green eyes taking in everything even though he walked with a purpose.

It had been a few months since he'd made an agreement and started his new life. There were moments of panic where he wondered if he'd made a mistake, but most of the time he felt he was starting to adjust. The hardest part was laying awake for too long because he couldn't quiet his mind, when anxiety was the worst and his thought were too loud. That was the reason why he was heading straight for the library to pick out a few new books and drop off the ones he'd finished more than once.

Book in hand, the others tucked safely against his chest, he was reading and barely watching where he was going, managing to avoid running into people. Mostly. He would mumble an apology as he passed.

Sebastian wore his uniform when working, but preferred his more casual clothes when off duty, but on the stations it was always his uniform with some accessories because despite the temperature being comfortable he always felt cold and wore layers and scarves.

It wasn't a very grand library, but he could be said to be biased. It filled a reasonable sized room, and was at least labeled clearly. Loki had headed straight for the mystery section, and was browsing titles. Pulling out any that seemed to catch his eye, and reading the brief summary on the inside cover.

Thank goodness they were actual physical books! Properly bound and sturdy, and in a language he recognized. Although that might've been his benefactor's work--as Loki had yet to encounter a language written on the stations that he didn't recognize. Or one spoken either, the few times he interacted with other Explorer's.

He has a small selection in one arm when he's jostled, turning to look at the other with a frown. The mumbled apology mollifies him a little, as Loki just raises an eyebrow. Studying the other, noting how hunched into his uniform (and hiding under layers) he is.

Sebastian realized after a moment that he had run into someone again and apologized without thinking, so absorbed in his book that he stopped where he was and continued reading until he could pull his attention away and look up. And up. His own eyebrows rose slightly in surprise. The man was very tall.

"My apologies. Again. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going." It's a sincere apology." He looked at the book in hand and back up to the title. "Agent? Agent of what?"

"Our benefactors." Loki answered after a moment. It was the truth, and would lead more interesting places than lying would currently. "From what I've gathered it's not a common role of those they give us for our services."

Supply-regulation and Hokori-Anderson told Loki only a bit more. None of their uniforms had ship-names, but it gave him what role the other played beyond just general crew. And a last name...probably Midgardian, although Hokori would not have sounded out of place in Vanaheim.

"Somehow I suspect you're not here resupplying for your ship, Hokori Son-of-Ander." Loki deliberately choose to use an older interpretation of the other's name. Testing a bit.

"What exactly does an Agent do for our benefactors?" Curious question because he had never met someone who was simply an 'Agent' before. An Agent for what purpose? Secret agent? Spy? Agent of dangerous travels? Agent of books?

It was an amusing train of thought until he blinked at the way the Agent said his name. It took him a moment to make the connection and that too had him wondering who this Agent was and where he'd come from.

"Hokori is my mothers family name. Anderson is my fathers. There is a book where characters names reference their fathers, so I suppose it could be interpreted as Son of Ander."

He was holding that book now and had no intention of giving it up. This one he owned.

"Do you have a name or should I call you Agent?"

"If you knew, you'd have to die." Loki said seriously, holding the other's gaze and expression entirely serious. Now he was curious about how the other would react.

Sebastian's gaze narrowed slightly, more from the way he was being stared at so seriously. One thing he'd learned over the years was not to look away when someone was looking for a reaction. Normally it was bullies searching for fear.

Without looking away he closed his book. Truth or not he wouldn't back down or show a weakness.

"We all die sometime. Would it be worth it to know the secret? If the secret it's not worth death then I don't think I want to know."

That actually brought a smile, with a slightly sharp edge. "Clever answer." Said with approval. Then Loki turned back towards the bookshelf.

"Agents are solo operatives, but otherwise much like the explorer's crew. But we're specialized troubleshooters, hence why we work solo. That's what I've gathered based on my experience." A pause, and he pulled another book out and added it to his pile. "I am Loki of Asgard."

"Do you read mysteries to pass the time or do you enjoy solving the mystery before the book reveals the answer?"

Clever had never been a word used to describe him before so he's a little pleased with himself as he skims over some of the titles in Loki of Asgard's collection.

"Loki." The name seemed a little familiar. "There is a story about a mask created by a God named Loki. God of Chaos and Mischief. A Norse God, I believe. Anyone wearing the mask would be...possessed by the spirit of the God? Or it's magic. I can't remember the details. It's not a name you hear often."

"That myth is likely unique to your world, as I've never created any masks." Loki replied, choosing to leave the other question unanswered. "Otherwise your world has it accurate."

This was by far the most interesting conversation he'd had since arriving in his new life--mostly because he preferred not to engage in developing relationships beyond the necessary--and he was finding it difficult to walk away.

"You know the myths about Loki. Were you named after him?"

It didn't occur to him that Loki was suggesting he was the God of Chaos and Mischief. Only that he was saying the myths were true, except for the one about the mask, and teasing that he himself had never created such a mask. Gods weren't real so he couldn't imagine actually meeting one in person.

"Oh the myths still have many things lost in translation and altered or elaborated on." Loki replied, before turning an amused look on Sebastian. "But they were named after me." A pause, and a sly smile. "I'm the God of Mischief."
