When they awaken, they're not in their usual beds. Nor are they in their usual clothing. They remember a 'dream' though. A cloud of amorphous energy, that resolved into a humanoid shape, and spoke in their minds. "I seek to recruit you into service as my proxy, and explore the multiverse. In exchange, I can offer you most any wish you desire..." The details are fuzzy, but somehow they knew this being was capable of what they said--very little was off-the-table in possibilities.
They must have said yes.
Each is awakened, in a small utilitarian room, by a small chime. The rooms themselves are about the size of a spacious single dorm-room, with a personal bathroom attached. The furnishings are basic and simple; bed, night stand, desk, clothes chest. They'll find their belongings from home--their usual clothing, and one or two specific items of importance, folded and placed neatly on the desk and chest. Overhead lights, save for a small one by the nightstand by the head of their bed, and all set in the wall.
They're all wearing basic black combat boots, with dark blue BDU style pants, and a black tee-shirt. Nearby, a dark blue BDU jacket hangs off the desk-chair, with a Name-patch bearing their last name and a title. Around their wrist, is a thin round bracelet--which is the source of the chime.
Once clear they're awake, the bracelet chirps again, before playing a message. "Welcome to multiverse-craft Grisha. Thank you for accepting the service offer. I am your Omniband. Please do not lose me or take me off. You will find literature about me in the main Galley area of the ship, along with a Welcome Banner. Please make your way there, and meet your fellow crew. Please wear your uniform for this first meeting. Auto-pilot is currently engaged, as your first mission is simply to get to know each other." It's a cheery little electronic voice.
Making their way to the hall, the ship seems not too cramped so far, but definitely not a luxury space. It's easily labeled to find your way to the various parts of the ship. Navigation/Control room, Engines, Medical, Galley, and Cargo Bay. Once they reach the Galley, there are sheets of paper set up on a table under a Welcome banner, along with snacks and drinks. One set of sheets is labeled "About your Omniband", while another is simply labled "Icebreakers".
Very little of this was familiar to Kenshin. It all looked like it was from the West, and more advanced than what he considered "Modern". He might have to ask another crew-mate to help explain things. The clothing was odd, also Western, but not too bad. He was pleased to find in his room there was a sword rack, and checking it he breathed a sigh of relief. His Sakabatou... Good, he could keep his vow.
The little disembodied voice had asked him to wear the strange clothes, so Kenshin looked closer at the jacket. And "Oro?" Captain? There it was, one on top of the other on patches over the breast. Captain and Himura. Easily read and understood, and he pondered a moment why that was. Probably some property of their benefactor's magic. Unless everyone else on the ship was also Japanese or spoke it.
Well, he'd find out. It wasn't hard to put on the jacket, although he took the belt from his usual clothing and used that to wear his sword, before making his way to the hallway. Here too, he found he could understand the words and directions to find the Galley.
"Well, they're certainly trying to make this easy on us, that they are." He commented, on finding the Table with the welcome-banner. The galley itself was about the size of a small restaurant room, with a long table as well as a few smaller ones, and chairs. A doorway off to the side (at least Kenshin presumed it was a doorway) must lead to a kitchen.
Moving to the table, he picked up the "About your Omniband" sheet.
An Omniband functions as your communication and information device in one. Usually it is worn as a bracelet, but it can be taken off and manipulated a few ways to produce a screen. Twisting it in a certain way will produce a phone like recorder and receiver. This is how you will communicate with each other from far-away, and contain relevant information about your ship, each other, and any missions with all related detail provided. It is fairly durable, as no one so far has been able to break it--but please do not take that as a challenge. In addition, please keep it with you even if you do not wear it.
It provided some helpful diagrams too, although it still made Kenshin tilt his head. He...understood some of that. Must be some type of future device? Was he in the Future now?
Gojou had concerns over his own clothes. He's not sure about this whole 'Security' thing - is he expected to use his powers to protect the weak? That would be rather bad and they should know better than to think he'd do something like that so easily.
Coming into the galley, he spots Kenshin right away and heads over.
Kenshin blinked, although he didn't seem too surprised to no longer be alone. Mostly the blink was because he'd understood the other. Were they both speaking Japanese, or was there something translating for them? Probably something to worry about later.
"This one seems to be about our bracelets, that it does." A few more people were starting to trickle in now.
Alex had taken one look at the new clothes he was wearing. Nope. No way. He was sticking with his own clothes. A look at the uniform jacket had him raising an eyebrow. Medical? What did that mean? Yes he was a Dr, and probably qualified, but still. What the fuck?
He was also annoyed to find that the darn bracelet-Omni-whatsit that had beeped at him was still on his wrist too. Lovely. May as well make his way to the galley and find out who he was stuck with, maybe get some more details on this.
He'd come into the tail end of the red-head's comment. Not in his uniform, but in blue jeans with a button up shirt, hoodie, and brown leather jacket. The hood was up, but Alex's piercing blue eyes were easy to see as he surveyed things, and raised an eyebrow.
Nikki was confused, herself, when she woke up. The clothing seems to be a little too styled towards the modern world - definitely not something that fit the world she'd been living in for the past several months. Even North had a better sense of what to do than this. But she's an obliging sort, so she keeps the clothing on when she wanders out of the room to investigate.
Entering the galley, she backs up a few steps when she sees all the people. Her hand automatically reaches out for Momo, but doesn't find him - which just serves to give her anxiety. That cat is always there for her.
So she stays at a distance for now, just appearing to be sort of a nervous buzzy bee in place.
