Allowing her to gather her dress up from the ground too, as he steered them back towards the Pagoda entrance. A staccato beat of solid wood along with paced footsteps reached Vincent's ears, and it wasn't long before Lord Godo Kisaragi made his appearance. The elderly man had taken to walking with a cane (concealing a sword within), as he watched the dark gunslinger bring back his reluctant daughter.
"I did not finish, Yuffie." Godo's voice was deep, resigned and unsurprised by her flight. "I had also petitioned the WRO, being they do not bear heavy involvement in our affairs, for the aid of a chaperone and bodyguard. For your own protection." In truth he had been as surprised as anyone that Reeve had sent Valentine.
The man was still little more than a ghostly shadow even now, often keeping to himself for all that he had helped save the world twice over. Shunning celebrity or spotlight, and downplaying roles he had taken. Although if Reeve was honestly considering Yuffie's best interests (as Godo was) perhaps that was why Valentine had been chosen. His daughter knew him, had worked with him numerous times. It would make this easier on her, overall.
"Against any of your suitors as well, should they be so dishonorable, in addition to outside forces."
