Ironically, here she was thinking the same thing in reverse -- if she showed the weakness and grabbed him more thoroughly, he'd take that opportunity to claim victory. Maybe, just a little, she wanted to stun him breathless with this kiss, to make him just dazed enough that he wouldn't exploit the littlest lapse on her part.

But then again, he was proving quite the challenger in this respect as well.
