Meme and Voice-testing
Who: (Future) Trunks (user name="light_of_willpower") and (future) Mai (user name="waitingforhope")
What: Voice-testing with a meme or two as inspiration.
When: Sometime in the apocalyptic future, during Black's reign probably.
Warnings: Apocalypse mentions, death and serious topics, potential fluff too.
Set-up: Meme-inspirations--Sharing a bed, body-heat
It was getting harder and harder to find survivors. Mostly because it was harder to escape out from Black's radar--he'd struck the major population centers and cities first. Driving humanity (what remained of it) underground, or into the wilderness. Not that the wilderness made chances for survival any better, as he slaughtered animals too. All living beings were fair game to the monster who wore the face of Earth's greatest hero.
But hiding in the wilderness did make things more challenging, as people and animals weren't as clustered as in cities. And what rebellion against Black's forces there was did their best to investigate any and all rumors of humanity still surviving, still hiding. As much as they could, without drawing the monster to themselves or to those they hoped to rescue.
Which is how they'd found themselves in their current circumstances. It was one of the smaller settlements on the main continent, near forests and some canyons. Which is why it'd been one of the safer settlements in the later years of the Android's reign, and a good gathering point besides the major cities, during rebuilding. But right then it was cold, it was wet, and there had been no signs of life.
It was frustrating, as Trunks should've been able to sense something. They were far away from where the reports had spotted Black last, they had radios, and neither he nor Mai were the only members out combing among the trees and canyons for any signs of human life. Although he and Mai were the ones who'd ranged the farthest out, given his abilities--and they'd finally come upon the remains of some houses. Still standing and intact, but obviously uninhabited and with no signs of life that Trunks could sense.
The word had gone out over the radio though--go to ground, bed down for the night. Try again tomorrow and then get back home. They had to try to find and help everyone they could, but they also couldn't waste resources. The full dark of night had hit about 2 hours ago, and it was cold and wet as a nasty storm had blown through recently. Never mind the 'normal' disruptions to the usual weather-patterns thanks to Black's presence and attacks on the world.
Fluff, grief, serious talk, silly talk, setting up for good-bye
Night fell over Capsule Corps in the past. Guests (including the God of Destruction and his Angel) had come and gone, or were staying over (Goku and his family). Most of the feast had been cleaned up, but leftovers were always available--especially in a house frequented by saiyans.
Most everyone was exhausted, especially if they'd gone to the future, from the roller-coaster that had happened. Zamasu was gone--and Beerus had assured them he would not be a problem. A solution had been found, and agreed upon--but what did going to a future where there already existed a Trunks and a Mai mean, really?
Neither of the two survivors had been able to each much, despite their hunger. Bulma had also insisted that no--they needed to rest. Sleep in a real bed for a bit, take a proper bath, eat some proper meals! It would give her time to touch up the Time Machine and pack supplies.
Neither dared argue with her.
So with the battle at long last over, it was time for exhaustion to set in. A time for rest and to start planning recoveries. To grieve, and be alone with thoughts, and figure out what to do, where to go, from here.
