Their missions had been doing 'good' actually, even if it had been simply getting someone out of a bad situation (like their latest mission). The Professor and Gune and Jayne (and Leela, when she felt like it) had all gotten into discussions about 'why' they were being given these missions, since it didn't seem like the alien beings who'd hired them as explorers had cared much for morality. Much less Earthling morality, and even less so the various morality that had seemed to make up their crew.
Then again, they'd asked but hadn't gotten a straight answer. Only reassurance that they were doing admirably at tasks assigned, and performing satisfactorily. Please enjoy a vacation. Once they were less exhausted, John had some more questions to ask of their 'benefactors', and wasn't going to be pawned off--but for now, he would enjoy.
Joy also kept to herself, pleading politely that someone had to remain in full possession of their senses. Especially since it appeared Jayne and Leela'd become engaged in some kind of contest with the locals. What the contest was, it wasn't clear yet--only that they were arguing terms about what to do.
The good thing about the tavern, was that as much as the drink was flowing--food was flowing with it. Breads and crackers and cheeses, to help soak up and encourage more drinking. Trunks navigated his way through the crowd with a bowl of breads stuffed with said cheese, and a tall glass, towards Thea and Joy. Managing to get safely there, sliding in to sit by them and being heard was more difficult. "Do we have any idea how long this is going to last?" He addressed to his companions, eyeing Jayne's face as the man seemed to be arguing with someone at least twice his size, but enjoying himself.
