Mission—Planet Cloelia.

The Arethusa's Crew is to visit Cloelia's capital city, Siriporn. The mission is to observe, visit, act as you will, and record observations/thoughts on the economic model utilized on the planet.

Cloelia itself is a planet who's only hospitable regions lie along the equator, and they have capitalized upon this and abundant resources by becoming an intergalactic resort. 85% of their economy is focused on this goal, with the other 15% based around exports. The resorts are megalopolis-sized cities broken into various sectors designated by species and racial-needs.

Siriporn itself hosts the largest variety of sector-resorts available. Arrangements have been made for the crew to stay at the Ezhil resort, as all of them are humanoid. It is a lush-tropical resort surrounded by jungles and not far from mountain ranges and cliffs that make for spectacular views.

Crew members will provide suitable garments and supplies for a resort trip provided in a suitcase in their bunks. They are free to take other items if they so choose/request them.

What’s really going on, is that is that there is an underground section near the capital city that holds the “undercaste”. They are the official ‘scapegoats’ of the planet, as all prosperity and wealth is made possible by subjugating these beings. At the time of maturity of all natives of Cloelia are made aware of these beings; if they do not agree with the treatment of these beings to ensure prosperity, they are killed.

The “Undercaste” are given only enough resources to survive, and limited contact with anyone but their own. Upon reaching 5 years after sexual maturity, they are killed. They have become a permanently evolved underclass.

There IS a quiet and subtle resistance that has taken refuge in one of the wilderness areas, to seek to overthrow the current system and fight for a better life for the Undercaste. Unfortunately they lack major resources compared to the thriving industries that bring tourism to the planet, and to the complacent (and complicit) majority.

Unknown to most, is that the Mayor of the Capital’s resort city is a secret supporter and contact for the underclass. He has been organizing among the smaller businesses and wealthier philanthropists, to find out who might be amenable to change the system to bring better conditions and less stigma to the Undercaste. The Mayor is one of those rare good people who seeks to serve others, not himself.

The truth is, the planet COULD survive and still thrive without this unjust system, but it has been in place for so long that most people are accustomed to it. That it is unknown to outsiders has made the problem even more difficult to change, as it’s a deep cultural taboo (akin to cannibalism among humans) to even speak about it with anyone not native to the planet.

Omnibands allow the crew to maintain contact with each other. They are not required to stay together; they're encouraged to explore and 'enjoy' the trip.

Professor Robinson has 'asked' (aka ordered if needed) everyone to at least stay for 1 day and 1 night in the capital city itself, to see what it's all like. So they can all get better acclimatized to this new experience (it's going to take getting used to for him, in some ways). After that they're all on their own schedules although he'd like daily check-ins at 20:00hrs SET (Standard Earth Time) via Omni-band video. A full Cloelian cycle consists of roughly 40 Earth-Standard-Time Hours.

The Arethusa crew will be visiting the Adnan sector of Siriporn, which is the humanoid-lifeform section. All environments and amenities there are safe for carbon-based lifeforms similar to Earth-style Homo Sapiens (and related sub-types). Native Cloelians themselves resemble 6-limbed antenna-bearing humanoids with a slight green-tint to their skin. The lower set of 4 limbs allows them a quadrupedal motion to traverse the varied terrain of their home planet.

After their initial day and night spent together as a crew, Nurse Joy will suggest they split up to explore and enjoy themselves. Leela will snag Joy for some girl-time, and ask if Thea would like to come along. Professor Robinson and Gune are more interested in speaking with some of the locals, especially about their technology and abundant resources as scientists. Jayne will make a beeline for the farthest area of the resort from the rest of the crew, where there is plenty of food and drink and entertainment.

Trunks will insist he's actually fine on his own exploring, and seems to have no plans other than generally looking around.
